What types of mat classes are offered at Reflexion?
Each week at Reflexion several types of mat classes are offered to challenge, inspire and rejuvenate you!
Classes are offered in:

How large are your classes?
Class size is small with a maximum of five participants. This ensures individual attention and reduces the risk of injury.

Class times are listed below. Pre-registration is required:

Monday~ none
TUESDAY~ 7:05-8:05 p.m. Pilates: All levels
Wednesday~ none
THURSDAY~ 6:30-7:45 p.m. Pregnancy/Post-Natal (next 6-week series begins June 10th) Pre-registration & Doctor's note REQUIRED.
Friday~ none
SATURDAY~ 9:30-10:30 a.m. Gyrotonic Mat (Gyrokinesis)

"Pregnancy & Post-Natal" and "Mommy & Me" classes are scheduled on demand. Call for days, times and to pre-register.

These classes sound great! But I can't come at the times listed...
If other class times would be of interest to you please call or email to let me know. With enough interest, that time slot will be added to the schedule.

Advanced registration is required for all classes. This insures your place in class. Please call to reserve your spot.

PREGNANCY/POST-NATAL MAT CLASS (up to 18 months after delivery)

Friday mornings 9:30am
(75 minutes)

Ongoing six-week formats. Each time slot is a separate ongoing format. Doctor's note requiredCALL TO REGISTER.

Engaging in mild to moderate exercise helps women have healthier babies and both mother and baby tolerate pregnancy, labor, delivery and recovery much better.

This class offers uncomplicated exercises to support your body during the changes of pregnancy, challenges during labor and delivery, and the physical demands of life after delivery including lifting your new baby, carrying car seats, and manipulating strollers. These exercises are designed to increase muscular support and relieve tight muscles inherent with profound postural changes. You will be encouraged to repeat some exercises between classes, keeping you optimally strong and comfortable. 

Based on the work of Julie Tupler, RN, these pregnancy and post-natal modified exercises can: 
• reduce pregnancy-related pain
• support postural changes
• strengthen the abs and pelvic floor
• relax you through guided meditation

Detailed class description:

Class begins with pelvic floor and abdominal work and continues with stretching and strengthening exercises for your arms, legs and back. Class culminates with imagery-based meditation promoting your overall health and well-being, deepening your connection with your own body and attuning you more closely to your growing baby. You leave feeling stronger, relaxed and reconnected. We will discuss how to support uterine contractions through abdominal recruitment and breathing; utilizing these important tools during delivery will help keep you focused and as relaxed as possible throughout the birth process. 

Written materials on other pertinent aspects of pregnancy, delivery and post-natal life will be available for you to take with you.

 

 

PILATES MAT CLASS - ALL LEVELS 

Tuesday evenings 7:05pm
(60 minutes)

This class will focus on developing overall body strength, tone, and flexibility by strengthening the body's core: the area around your trunk and pelvis (abdominals, spinal extensors, and hamstrings) and stretching frequently tight muscles. All Pilates exercises are developed to both stretch and strengthen without strain. All exercises can be easily modified to safely best challenge each participant. 

 

Class description:

Exercises will be performed lying, seated, or standing. Efficiency of movement and body awareness are coupled with simple exercises to challenge and strengthen you. Focus is also placed on using the breath to support your movement. This will improve your lung capacity, physical stamina and keep you connected. With continued practice over time the exercises become easier and you will be given modifications to continue challenging yourself.

 

You will leave class feeling balanced and invigorated without feeling overworked. 

 

 

GYROTONIC MAT (Gyrokinesis)
Saturday mornings at 9:30am

In a supportive small class setting, this yoga, dance, tai chi and swimming based class offers a 60-minute continuous full body workout utilizing the fundamental elements of Gyrotonic exercise. Flowing, calm, and continuous movement coupled with rhythmic breathing releases joint tension, stimulates the nervous system, and improves blood circulation resulting in fully oxygenated muscles and organs. Feels like a dance class  with its emphasis on fluid, rhythmic movement and is easy to follow.

Class description:

Class begins seated on a stool with rhythmic arching, curling and spiraling movements designed to loosen and open the spine and pelvis. Once warmed up, we continue with stretching and strengthening exercises for the spine, arms and legs. The class culminates with specific focus on abdominal and standing balance exercises.

You leave class feeling centered, energized and refreshed. I provide the mats and stools. Water and towels are also provided. Wear something comfortable and easy to move in. You may prefer to dress in layers as you will become warmer throughout the class.


 
How much do you charge for a single class? Is there a discount for purchasing more than one class in advance?

Must commit for all six classes in consecutively weekly format. Doctor’s note required to participate.
*NO REFUNDS for unused classes unless serious pregnancy complications occur and confirmed by doctor's note.
